Titanium tetrafluoride Use and Manufacturing
Use titanium tetrachloride and hydrogen fluoride as raw materials to prepare titanium tetrafluoride. Put 50% of titanium tetrachloride in a stoichiometric ratio into a platinum or copper reactor. Add hydrogen fluoride dropwise to make it react. The product is allowed to stand for several hours, and then heated slowly. When heated to 200°C, the hydrogen chloride containing hydrogen fluoride is distilled off, and then the temperature is continued to rise above 284°C to sublimate the titanium tetrafluoride. After cooling, the titanium tetrafluoride powder product is obtained. Store in copper containers. The reaction is as follows:
Used for preparation of glycosyl fluorides2; glycosylation3; preparation of fluorohydrins4; addition of carbanions to aldehydes and imines.5
