Description
Lithium Nitrate is an inorganic compound with the formula LiNO3 with highly water solubility. All metallic nitrates are inorganic salts of a given metal cation and the nitrate anion. The nitrate anion is a univalent (-1 charge) polyatomic ion composed of a single nitrogen atom ionically bound to three oxygen atoms for a total formula weight of 62.05. Nitrate compounds are generally soluble in water.

Do not move cargo or vehicle if cargo has been exposed to heat. Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. SMALL LIQUID SPILL: Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite or sand to soak up the product and place into a container for later disposal. Call 911 or emergency medical service. Give artificial respiration if victim is not breathing. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult. Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. Contaminated clothing may be a fire risk when dry. In case of contact with substance, immediately flush skin or eyes with running water for at least 20 minutes. Keep victim calm and warm. (ERG, 2016)
Lithium nitrate Use and Manufacturing
Add lithium hydroxide or lithium carbonate to the reactor containing distilled water, slowly add nitric acid under stirring to heat the reaction, then evaporate to dryness, and heat at about 200°C under vacuum to prepare lithium nitrate. Its HNO3+LiOH→LiNO3+H2O
