It is obtained by alkali melting and acidification of 1-naphthylamine-4, 8-disulfonic acid at 200-230℃.
It is used as an important intermediate in the manufacture of acid dyes and leather dyes, and it is also used in the synthesis of Chicago SS acid etc.
