Methods of Manufacturing

A mixture of 166g (1mol) tetrachloroethylene, 300g dry chloroform (2.5mol) and 27g (0.2mol) anhydrous aluminum trichloride was heated and refluxed for 15h, cooled and separated, the organic layer was washed, dried, and distilled under normal pressure to recover the chloroform , Vacuum distillation collects the 110-113°C (1.33kPa) fraction to obtain 250-266g of finished product, with a yield of 88-93%.
