Methods of Manufacturing

It is prepared by oxidation of 1-methyl-4-acetnaphthalene and potassium dichromate at 200-300℃ and about 4MPa for 18h. It can also be obtained by liquid phase oxidation of 1, 4-dimethylnaphthalene using cobalt-manganese-bromine as a catalyst at 120°C and about 3kPa.

Uses

Used in the production of fluorescent brighteners, dye intermediates, etc.
