Methods of Manufacturing

Derived from the dehydration of stearyl alcohol. After mixing stearyl alcohol and acetic anhydride (molar ratio 1:1.5), add dropwise from a constant pressure funnel to a quartz tube filled with quartz sand at a temperature of 610±10°C and a residence time of 2 min in the column. The pyrolysis product is a two-layer liquid of nearly equal volume. The lower layer is mainly acetic acid and acetic anhydride, which are discarded. The upper layer and 1N potassium hydroxide ethanol solution are refluxed at 100°C for 1 hour, and then poured into excess warm water to take non-water soluble The substance is dissolved in n-hexane, cooled at 0℃, unreacted octadecyl alcohol is precipitated out, separated by filtration, the filtrate is distilled under reduced pressure, the n-hexane is distilled out at room temperature, and the previous fraction is evaporated at elevated temperature, and then collected The fraction at 195°C (4.39kPa) is octadecene.
