Sodium glycolate Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

By the reaction of chloroacetic acid and sodium hydroxide. Dissolve monochloroacetic acid in distilled water, carefully add liquid alkali to adjust the pH to 9. With the addition of alkali, the temperature continues to rise, and finally to boiling, continue to keep at 80-100 ℃ for 2h, during which the pH value is not lower than 9. Then concentrate until thin film appears on the liquid surface, add appropriate amount of distilled water and filter while it is hot, and cool the filtrate to about 15°C, filter the crystals, and then refine the finished product.

Uses

Used in organic synthesis intermediates.
