1,10-Dibromodecane Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Derived from the reaction of decanediol and hydrogen bromide. The decanediol is heated to 95-100° C., and dry hydrogen bromide gas is introduced under stirring. When the hydrogen bromide in the mixture is saturated, the temperature is raised to 135°C and hydrogen bromide is slowly introduced. After cooling, the water layer was separated to obtain the crude product. Wash with water, then with 10% sodium carbonate solution, after removing all the acid, perform vacuum distillation, collect 139-142°C (0.266kPa) fractions to obtain the finished product.

Uses

Used as an intermediate in organic synthesis.
