1-Iodoheptane Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Firstly, catechol is reacted with phosphorus trichloride to produce chlorophosphite o-phenylene, and then reacted with heptanol to obtain a colorless oily phosphite. Take 50.9 g (0.20 mol) of the above phosphite and 50.8 g (0.20 mol) of iodine into 500 ml of dichloromethane, and stir at room temperature for 1 hour. Use 10% sodium thiosulfate solution to wash away possible unreacted iodine, and then wash with 5% NaOH solution, 5% NaHCO3 solution, and saturated NaCl solution in order to separate the organic phase. After evaporating the solvent, reduce pressure Distillation, collect 96-104℃ (5.33-6.4kPa) distillate, obtain 39g iodoheptane, yield 86%.
