N-Methyliminodiacetic acid Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The sodium chloroacetate solution and the methylamine solution are reacted at a temperature below 50°C, barium chloride dihydrate solution is added to the reaction mixture, and the precipitated barium methyliminodiacetate is filtered. Then the barium salt is reacted with sulfuric acid to separate the barium sulfate precipitate. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure, added with anhydrous methanol, cooled, filtered, washed with methanol, and dried at 100°C to obtain methyliminodiacetic acid. The yield is 63-71%.

Uses

Used in organic synthesis.
