Methods of Manufacturing

There are many synthetic routes for preparing 1-amino-8-naphthoic acid from naphthalene or acenaphthene: (1) Naphthalene sulfonic acid is used to prepare peripheral acid from naphthalene, and then 1-amino-8- is prepared from peripheral acid. Naphthalene sulfonic acid is obtained by hydrolysis. (2) The phosgenation method is obtained by preparing 1-naphthylamine from naphthalene and 1-naphthalene isocyanate from 1-naphthylamine, and then hydrolyzing. (3) Naphthalene anhydride is prepared from acenaphthene through air-catalyzed oxygen, then oxidized, rearranged 1, 8-naphalactam, and finally obtained by hydrolysis. The method has simple process, saving raw materials and low cost.

Uses

Dye intermediate. Used in the production of anthracene anthrone, synthesis of brilliant orange RK, reduced gray BG, etc.
