Methods of Manufacturing

Chlorination of 2-methylanthraquinone with chlorine in the presence of iodine gives 1-chloro-2-methylanthraquinone in about 60% yield.|1-Chloro-2-methylanthraquinone is obtained by the chlorination of 2-methylanthraquinone with sulfuryl chloride in nitrobenzene at about 100 °C.
