Tyrosine is an alpha-amino acid that is phenylalanine bearing a hydroxy substituent at position 4 on the phenyl ring. It has a role as a Daphnia magna metabolite. It is an alpha-amino acid, a polar amino acid and an aromatic amino acid. It contains a 4-hydroxybenzyl group. It derives from a propionic acid. It is a conjugate base of a tyrosinium. It is a conjugate acid of a tyrosinate(1-).
