Methods of Manufacturing

One method is to synthesize NDA/NDC through the Henkel reaction using naphthalene monobasic or dibasic carboxylate; the other is to synthesize 2, 6 substituted naphthalene which can be used for oxidation, and then oxidize to NDA, namely 2 , 6-dialkyl naphthalene method and 2-alkyl-6-acyl naphthalene method. At present, the only production methods that can be industrialized (including semi-industrialization) in the world are the o-xylene DMN method of BP Amoco of the United States, the 2-methyl-6-acetylnaphthalene method of MGC of Japan, and the Sumijin Chemical Company of Japan2. 6-Diisopropylnaphthalene oxidation method.
