form of polydimethylsiloxane, which belongs to a group of polymeric
organosilicon compounds. It can be used as a common surfactant and
an antifoaming agent. It can also be applied as the active silicone
fluid in automotive viscous limited slip differentials and
couplings. Moreover, it is commonly used as a stamp resin in the
field of soft lithography. Finally, it can also be supplemented to
the over-the-counter drugs as an antifoaming agent and carminative.
For example, it is seen in many skin care and beauty products to
prevent water and moisture loss in the skin through forming a
hydrating barrier.
