Bismuth hydroxide Use and Manufacturing

Uses

As absorbent for rutin and quercetin; in hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid; in separation of plutonium from irradiated uranium. Bismuth hydroxide is used as an adsorbent, a raw material for making artificial teeth, and it can also be used for making bismuth salt. It is a new type of inorganic bismuth catalyst, suitable for cathodic electrophoretic paint system, replacing toxic organic tin catalyst, and preparing environmentally friendly coatings. Bismuth hydroxide is soluble in concentrated acid and glycerin, but insoluble in water, ethanol and concentrated alkali. It will decompose when exposed to hot water or at 415°C, and lose 1 molecule of water when heated to 100°C.
