Praseodymium oxide (Pr6O11) Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Extraction method: Jujulite concentrate is leached by alkali dissolution, phosphorus removal and dilute hydrochloric acid to obtain rare earth chloride solution, which is extracted with P2O4-kerosene-HCl-ReCl system. The rare earth mixture can be divided into light, medium and heavy rare earth groups. The light rare earth in the ra-Nd group of raffinate (containing medium rare earth Sm2O3<1%), according to the order of oxalate precipitation: samarium, neodymium, praseodymium, cerium, lanthanum, to separate them. The oxalate can be precipitated to form a soluble complex and then precipitated to separate it. After drying, it is burned at 1000°C to obtain praseodymium oxide. Its 3Pr2(C2O4)3→Pr6O11+7CO2+11CO

Uses

Glass and ceramic pigment, laboratory reagent. This compound is a yellow powder used to color glass and ceramics.
