Dess-Martin periodinane Use and Manufacturing
Important oxidizing reagent; milder oxidizing agent, mostly used in the total synthesis of natural products. Oxidant used to oxidize 1° and 2° alcohols to aldehydes and ketones; used to oxidize hydroxychlorin to chlorin-α-diketone and tetraketone; oxidant used to oxidize hydroxychlorin (Hydroxychlorins) generate chlorin-α-diones and tetraketones. It is also used to oxidize alcohols into aldehydes and ketones.
