Drug Function and Efficacy
Potassium is the main cation in cells, with a concentration of 150-160 mmol/L. The body mainly relies on Na-KATPase on the cell membrane to maintain the difference in K and Na concentrations inside and outside the cell. The acid-base balance in the body has an impact on potassium metabolism. For example, when acidosis occurs, H enters the cell. In order to maintain the potential difference inside and outside the cell, K is released outside the cell, causing or aggravating hyperkalemia. Metabolic disorders can also cause acid-base balance. Normal potassium ions inside and outside the cell and the concentration difference are closely related to certain functions of the cell, such as carbohydrate metabolism, glycogen storage and protein metabolism, nerves, muscles including myocardial excitability and conductivity, etc. Aspartic acid is an oxaloacetic acid precursor, plays an important role in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and participates in the ornithine cycle to generate urea from NH3 and CO2. Aspartic acid has a strong affinity for cells and can serve as a carrier of potassium ions and provide them with energy, allowing them to return to the cell and increase the potassium ion concentration in the cell.
