Evening primrose oil is especially rich in the threefold polyunsaturated fatty acid, gamma linolenic acid (GLA C18:3-6), or simply GLA. Tuna oil is rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). These long chain essential fatty acids are also known as Omega-3 fatty acids. Thyme oil and vitamin e are powerful anti-oxidants that protect essential fatty acids in the body and ensure their availability for incorporation into the eye & brain. Fish oil is rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). These essential fatty acids are stored in the cell membranes of tissues, and have two primary functions. First, they are structural components of cell membranes where they ensure fluidity, stability, and act as gatekeepers in the cells. Secondly, they ensure the production of prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that regulate many of the body functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, blood clotting, fertility and conception.
