Hefei Leaf Biotech Co.,Ltd. is an innovative high-tech enterprise specialized in R&D, production, sale and service of green bio-based new energy, materials and pharmaceutical intermediates. It is one of the registered innovative enterprise units in IAT (Institution of Advanced Technology) of USTC (University of Science and Technology of China), with its technology supported by Anhui Key Laboratory for Biomass Clean Energy University of Science and Technology of China. Now, we have 16 full-time researchers and more than 20 part-time researchers working in fully equipped laboratories. Over the years, Leaf has gained rich experience in project research and development as well as management, which sustains the efficient operation in each department. Through university-industry cooperation, we have developed a bio-based new material synthesis technology with completely independent property right. The said technology make it possible to produce a new bio-based material PEF which can work as a green pollution-free alternative to traditional petrochemical material PET, by green chemistry methods, with agricultural and forestry waste, such as straw, as raw materials. This new material PEF is applicable for a variety of purposes, for instance, polymer for medical use in making replica bones, organs, and medical equipment; for another, top grade environment-protection materials for children’ toys, baby items, auto plastics and food packaging. Also it has some preferable properties, typically harmless to human body, biodegradable, and well-performed in processability. And the safety of FDCA has already been confirmed by European Food Safety Authority in December, 2014. As estimated, once the above mentioned PEF reaches a large-scale production, there will be a considerable cost advantage. What’s more important is that it is produced with environmental waste rather than PX, which may cause environment stress, as raw materials. In this way, the technology has a distinct advantage as regard to low carbon and environment protection, which can further promote a cyclic utilization in such renewable resource as agricultural straw. Now, we’ve already completed a pilot scale test of hundreds of tons annual output. It’s believed that broad prospects will be there and bring us with great economic and social benefits. Medical intermediate is another focus of company. Green synthesis and green chemical are what we always adhere to in product development and manufacturing. With considerable economic and social benefits and a huge market, the projects undertaken by our company has won attention and support from both the government and the public. Owing to government policy, Leaf has made numerous technological achievements. We have repeatedly given report on innovative projects to officials, such as Wan Gang –vice chairman of CPPCC and Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, governor and vice governor of Anhui province, and other provincial and municipal officials, all of whom invariably sing high praise of our achievements. Bearing the motto “benefiting the nation and its people is every citizen’s duty”, Leaf is sparing no efforts in creating a beautiful environment and achieving sustainable development by promoting the concept of green chemistry.
