The Guatemalan Exporters Association (Agexport) recently sent a 30-strong agricultural production and sales delegation to the United States to participate in the "Global Produce and Flower Show" to promote the export of Guatemalan fruits and vegetables.

According to the newspaper La Repubblica of Guatemala on November 2, the "Global Agro Florica" is the largest fruit, vegetable, flower and ornamental plant show in the United States. This year's event was held in Orlando, Florida. This year's event attracted more than 23,000 participants to share experiences, learn from each other and collaborate. Participants come from many countries and regions, such as Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain and Turkey.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are one of Guatemala's most important exports. According to the data released by the relevant ministry, in August this year, Guatemala's fresh fruits and vegetables exports reached 374 million US dollars, an increase of 8.7 percent (about 30 million US dollars) compared to the same month in 2021.

Estuardo Castro, director of Agexport's agriculture committee, noted that now Guatemalans are seeking to "eat healthier," and the market has made its own adjustments to that need. Participation in the fair is a great opportunity for the Guatemalan export industry to promote and export its unique vegetables and fruits that are representative of the country.
