2022-11-23

AkzoNobel recently announced that it has officially started construction of its decorative paint logistics base in East China, located in Songjiang, Shanghai, and will be officially opened in June 2023.

It is understood that the logistics base, with an investment of about 75 million RMB, is expected to speed up the integration of production, storage and transportation in China after completion. The base will connect AkzoNobel Paint (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. production lines, store decorative paint coating products and serve the whole country, further enhancing the company's deployment flexibility and quality control in warehousing. The warehouse will adopt intelligent digital technology and advanced security management techniques to tailor the most suitable storage methods and operation modes for different products, making the overall management more flexible and efficient.

It is understood that the logistics base will have an insulated and light-permeable roof and will install about 5,000 solar panels, which are expected to provide 1.66 million kWh of electricity per year for warehouse lighting, office power, forklift charging and other factory equipment operation. The logistics site will further help AkzoNobel achieve its sustainability goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50% and using 100% renewable energy by 2030 through the use of environmentally friendly energy and the optimization and automation of the logistics chain of operations.

"As the core market for the decorative paints business, the East China region is of great significance to AkzoNobel. Choosing to build AkzoNobel's logistics base in Songjiang, Shanghai, will definitely provide good supply chain guarantee for the development of decorative paint business in East China and the whole country." The relevant person in charge of AkzoNobel said that AkzoNobel's integration of its own resources in advance will effectively alleviate the supply chain challenges that the industry may face in the next few years, strengthen the company's storage capacity, expand its capacity to generate revenue, effectively enhance the company's strategic competitiveness, and set a new benchmark for supply chain supporting services in the same industry.
