1. Used to make calcium carbonate.
Calcium carbonate is one of the main raw materials for making calcium hydroxide and or hydrogen carbonate or acetone. The calcium carbonate is added to water to neutralize the acid content in water. This process is called neutralization. In the neutralization process, chemical change occurs converting water into a strong base called hydroxide and a weak acid called carbonate. The end product from this process is calcium hydroxide and or hydrogen carbonate or acetone.
2. Used in making soap.
Another main use for calcium carbonate is its use in making soap. Soap is made from vegetable oils and fats, water and an alkali. The alkali used to make soap is the same as that used to neutralize acidity in water. The difference between the two processes of neutralization is that neutralization with calcium carbonate releases calcium hydroxide, while neutralization with sodium hydroxide releases sodium carbonate.
3. Used to make toothpaste.

The end result from the fusion process is cullet glass which can be used in forming glasses.
6. Used in making refractories.
Calcium carbonate is also used in making refractories which are basically rocks to hold the glass together and make it strong. Refractories also provide strength to be able to withstand high temperatures and withstand various temperatures.
7. Used as a compound for removing soil from cars.
Calcium carbonate is also used in removing soil from cars for different reasons: making body repairs, removing rust, polishing the car's paint, smoothing the headlights and cleaning the windshields of all external dirt and objects that are made out of glass.
8. Used as a filter material.
Calcium carbonate is also used to filter water so that the water can be cleaned, softened and made potable. The process of filtering water is called filtration. In the process of filtration, calcium carbonate forms a colloidal solution which can be used for making water potable. Also, in this case, a similar effect as that of neutralization happens.
9. Used as an algicide and algicidal treatment agent.
Calcium carbonate is also used as an algicidal and algicidal treatment agent. Algaecides are compounds that are used to prevent or control the growth of algae in water. Algicidal treatment agents kill algae. In killing algae, calcium carbonate reacts with hydrogen peroxide and releases heat and oxygen molecules which cause death to the alga.
10. Used as an antacid and anti-ulcer agent.
Calcium carbonate is also used as an antacid and anti-ulcer agent. Antacids can neutralize HCl, relieve heartburn, mild indigestion symptoms, and also reduce pain from ulcers by providing a protective coating over the ulcer. Antacids can also be used to reduce stomach acidity, diminish the amount of acid being secreted and prevent reflux.
