Universal Coal achieves record ROM coal production from Kangala
Dow will implement a $110/mt increase on all polyethylene grades sold in Chile effective August 1, the company said Tuesday in a letter to customers obtained by S&P Global Platts.
The price hike follows an announced increase in Brazil this week of Real 350/mt ($106/mt), also effective August 1.
A source with knowledge of business operations said the increase was part of a price hike throughout all of Latin America.
The announcement comes amid higher import pricing for product from the US due to general tightness in the market and scarce material from Asia because of higher shipping rates, sources said.
Platts last assessed import pricing into the region July 20 at $1,185/mt CFR Peru basis for high-density PE blowmolding and at $1,200/mt CFR Peru basis for high-density film, up $35 and $40, respectively, week on week.
