Gum Arabic demand soars, Alland & Robert to boost capacity by 45%
French natural gum company Alland & Robert has announced that demand for gum arabic has skyrocketed as the covid-19 epidemic has boosted FMCG consumption. To this end, the company plans to invest 11 million euros to increase the annual production capacity of its Normandy plant by 9,000 tons, which will bring the total capacity to 30,000 tons per year.
It is reported that a fourth production line will be added to the company's Normandy site in Saint-Aubin-sur-Geiron, covering an area of 8,000 square meters. The capacity expansion plan is expected to start next year and is scheduled to open at the end of 2022.
The company said the reason for the 45% increase in capacity is to meet the soaring demand for the food ingredient in the global market.
