BRICOCEM: Excellent Solution for Compacting Problematic Substances for Recycling

Chemical Weekly 2018-07-09

Calucem – a Croatia-based manufacturer of various grades of calcium aluminate cements for a variety of applications – is offering a material BRICOCEM, which can represent an excellent solution for compacting substances that cannot otherwise be efficiently recycled.

BRICOCEM was designed for extremely fast hardening and early onset of strength development. This also enables it to develop sufficient strength when working in difficult framework conditions (solidification of soiled powders and fibres) to stabilise these substances and then recycle them in a subsequent step by re-melting them. During the re-melting process, BRICOCEM benefits from being free of sulphates, which means that no additional SO2 escapes into the atmosphere.

Unlike classic cementitious binders such as Portland cement, impurities (including oils and other organic compounds) often found in waste materials have an insignificant effect on the hardening of BRICOCEM.

Using BROCOCEM allows the throughput of briquetting systems to be considerably increased as Portland cements have significantly slower strength development. Typical fields of application include solidification of fine residual dusts, fibrous & flaked material and waste materials containing oils, greases or other organic materials.

According to Mr. B.P. Viswanathan, Kailash Marketing Associates, which is offering the material in India, depending upon the specifications, BRICOCEM can be matched to the specific requirements in a targeted way to achieve optimum results.
