Revised Maximum Residue Limits of Deoxynivalenol in Certain Foods by the European Union
The European Union (EU) has recently announced the revision of the maximum residue limits of deoxynivalenol (DON) in specific food products. This regulatory update, detailed in Regulation (EU) 2024/1022, aims to enhance food safety standards and protect consumer health.
Revised Maximum Residue Limits:
Under Annex I, Section 1.4 (Mycotoxins) of Regulation (EU) 2023/915, the previous entry for deoxynivalenol has been replaced with the following updated limits:

| 1.4.2 | Unprocessed hard wheat kernels and unprocessed maize kernels | 1500 | Excludes unprocessed maize grains intended solely for wet milling (starch production) as indicated by labeling or destination. The maximum level applies to unprocessed hard wheat and unprocessed maize used for first-stage processing in the market. |
| 1.4.3 | Unprocessed oat grains with inedible husks | 1750 | The maximum level applies to unprocessed oat grains with inedible husks used for first-stage processing in the market. It also applies to oat grains containing inedible husks. |
| 1.4.4 | Cereals for the final consumer, maize used for popcorn, and popcorn | 750 | Excludes rice |
| 1.4.5 | Cereal milling products, excluding products listed in 1.4.6 | 600 | Excludes rice-based processed products. |

| 1.4.9 | Infant food and processed cereal-based food for infants | 150 | Excludes rice-based products. The maximum level applies to the product's dry matter in the market. |
| 1.4.10 | Special medical purposes for infants | 150 | Excludes rice-based products. The maximum level applies to the product's dry matter in the market. |
Effective Date and Further Information:
