Analysis of Methanol Price Trend

In 2018,  methanol prices in China were obviously affected by multiple factors in a high range compared with previous years. The strong performance of methanol prices could not be separated from the transmission of profits in the industrial chain. The downstream profit support promoted the continued high level of methanol.

By 2018, the average price of Mongolia in the main methanol producing areas has increased by 47.88% and 13.14% respectively compared with the average price in 2016 and 2017. The average market price of Jiangsu in coastal areas increased by 36.77% and 57.71% respectively compared with 2016 and 2017.

At present, methanol prices are still at a relatively high level. Although most of the downstream areas remain profitable, the market neighbours are resisting the sentiment. Therefore, whether the future market can continue to rise needs careful judgment.The center of methanol price still has some room to rise, but the increase is limited and the trend is shocking.
