AkzoNobel Como Powder Coatings Plant Receives IATF 16949 Certification
AkzoNobel’s ongoing efforts to maintain the highest standards and serve its customers have earned the company’s powder coating facility in Como, Italy, recognition from the automotive industry.
The plant recently completed a major capacity expansion and has received International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 certification. This is awarded after extensive third-party review and recognizes the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction.
"We are very proud that our Como facility has received this certification," said Jeff Jirak, business director for AkzoNobel's powder coatings business. "This means we now have three certified powder plants in Europe, following Arnsberg in Germany and Izmir in Turkey, demonstrating our strong commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction."
"Our pursuit of better is never-ending," Jirak added. "Achieving IATF 16949 certification is recognition of our ongoing efforts to continuously improve and meet the stringent requirements of the automotive industry.
IATF 16949 certification is the global technical specification and quality management standard for the automotive industry. It focuses on several key areas, including continuous improvement, defect prevention and waste reduction within the automotive supply chain.
The Como plant is the company's largest powder coating facility. The most recent expansion, completed earlier this year, included the installation of two state-of-the-art automotive primer lines and two architectural coatings lines.
