Australia and New Zealand to Approve Genetically Modified Sugar Beet KSW20-1 for Food Use

On May 24, 2024, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued notice 291-24, which includes application A1303 to approve the genetically modified (GM) sugar beet line KSW20-1 for use in food.

The application was submitted by Bayer CropScience Pty Ltd. The GM sugar beet KSW20-1 is engineered to be tolerant to the herbicides glufosinate, glyphosate, and glyphosinate.
