Potassium hydroxide flakes suppliers: Summary of common uses of potassium hydroxide
Potassium hydroxide, commonly known as caustic potash, is a white solid that is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in ether. It is very easy to absorb moisture and deliquesce in the air. It can react with acidic gases to form potassium salts. So it is used to absorb acidic gases.
Potassium hydroxide is a typical strong alkali with many industrial applications. Most of the applications of potassium hydroxide flakes suppliers' products are due to the reaction of potassium hydroxide with acid and the corrosiveness of potassium hydroxide itself. So how does it work in agriculture, chemistry, and petrochemicals?
1. In agriculture
① Potassium hydroxide flakes suppliers' products are used to adjust soil pH.
② Used to produce fertilizers to provide potassium for crops, especially those that cannot tolerate chloride ions.
③ Used as herbicides and fungicides. A mixture of phosphorous acid and potassium hydroxide can be sprayed regularly to prevent pests and diseases, and crops treated in this way have almost no pesticide residues.
2. In the chemical industry
① Potassium hydroxide flakes suppliers' products are mainly used as raw materials for the production of potassium salts, such as potassium permanganate, potassium carbonate, potassium aluminate, laurate, formate, gluconate, etc.
② Used to adjust the pH value of chemical solutions, useful reagents in chemical analysis, such as helping to determine concentration levels in acid titration.
③ It can also promote drying, so it can be used as a desiccant to remove moisture from alkaline solvents, especially amines and pyridines.
3. Petrochemical industry
① Potassium hydroxide flakes suppliers' products help remove organic acids and sulfur compounds in the refining of oil and natural gas.
② Potassium hydroxide acts as a catalyst when producing biodiesel from oils and fats.
③ Carbon dioxide, sulfur trioxide, and nitrogen trioxide in the air flow are absorbed with the help of potassium hydroxide.
