IzeCarb launches calcium carbonate production plant in Lampese, Nigeria

ECHEMI 2024-12-18

Izedon Carbonates has opened a calcium carbonate production plant in Lampese, Edo State, Nigeria. This is the only integrated calcium carbonate production plant in Nigeria with a federally licensed and approved quarry to mine and process high-quality dolomite into calcium carbonate, an important raw material for a variety of products including oil and gas drilling fluids, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), paints and coatings, and plaster of paris (POP).

As such, IzeCarb has adopted a “quarry to customer” model with a fleet of 50-tonne delivery trucks to deliver products directly to customers, which makes it stand out in the industry.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Osayi Izedonmwen, Chairman and Founder of Izedon Carbonates, said dolomite is one of Nigeria’s mineral resources with huge reserves in Edo State that can increase Nigeria’s non-oil revenue, create jobs and diversify the economy.

“Import substitution is our ultimate goal. We foresee a future where Nigeria will no longer need to import calcium carbonate due to the high quality of calcium carbonate produced by IzeCarb. Our first phase of operations will last for about six months and we intend to meet the current local demand and scale up production to 200,000 metric tons per annum within a year.”

“Furthermore, we have ambitious plans to increase our production capacity to one million metric tons within three years to serve Nigeria and the West African sub-region,” said Izedonmwen.

IzeCarb’s products are available in various forms including but not limited to ground calcium carbonate in different micron sizes, coated calcium carbonate and dolomite aggregates. Customers can place their orders directly on the company’s website which also has an in-built tracking mechanism that enables them to track their orders until they are delivered to their doorstep.
