New Materials Industry Achieves Double-Digit Growth for 14 Consecutive Years, Total Output Exceeds 8 Trillion
At the press conference titled "Standards Improvement Leading Raw Materials Industry Optimization and Upgrading" hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Chang Guowu, Director of the Raw Materials Industry Department, stated on December 17 that from January to November this year, the total output value of China's new materials industry achieved over 10% growth, and the annual total output value is expected to exceed 8 trillion yuan. This achievement marks the new materials industry maintaining double-digit growth for 14 consecutive years, and the number of large-scale enterprises in the new materials sector has exceeded 20,000.
To further promote industrial development, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on meeting the practical needs of major applications and look towards the long-term development of materials. Specifically, the Ministry will focus on addressing shortcomings, extending advantages, and creating new boards as the main line to accelerate the growth of the new materials industry and build new growth engines. In terms of tackling key technologies, efforts will be made to strengthen collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research in key material fields such as new generation information technology and aerospace equipment, aiming to enhance the resilience and security of the industrial supply chain. Regarding the enhancement of “shelf product” supply capacity, the Ministry will upgrade technical advantage materials to improve the core competitiveness of market advantage materials and plan for cutting-edge materials, achieving “developing a batch, reserving a batch, and applying a batch.” In optimizing the innovation platform system, the Ministry will organize the implementation of the second phase of key new materials platforms based on improving and enhancing public service capabilities of existing platforms, and promote the establishment of a new materials big data center to accelerate the cultivation of a batch of new materials pilot platforms. Finally, to create a favorable environment for industrial development, the Ministry will implement a new version of the first application insurance compensation policy for new materials, strengthen the overall coordination of new materials standards, enhance cooperation between industry and finance for new materials, increase talent training efforts, and actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation.
