Breakthrough in Materials Technology 200μm Thick Films Achieve Unprecedented Precision
Toray Industries has announced a groundbreaking innovation on July 4, unveiling the STF-2000 photosensitive polyimide, a material designed with advanced high-sensitivity negative formulations and proprietary photoresist design technology. This cutting-edge material enables precision processing on films up to 200 microns thick, achieving a line width as narrow as 30 microns with an impressive aspect ratio of 7. Furthermore, it boasts the capability to form high-resolution patterns below 4μm L/S, opening new possibilities for next-generation MEMS devices, including advanced sensors.
Notably, STF-2000 complies with stringent environmental regulations such as those in the European Union. It is free of N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances), making it a sustainable choice for global applications. Mass production is anticipated in 2025, with ongoing development of thick-film formats to expand its versatility.
This innovation represents a critical step forward in precision manufacturing, combining environmental responsibility with cutting-edge technology to meet the demands of emerging industries.
