This Week, China's Acetone Market Continues to Show Weakness (8.15-22)

The Chinese acetone market continues to be weak. Nationwide, the acetone market reported a price of 4780 CNY/ton on August 15th, which decreased to 4720 CNY/ton by August 22nd, a 1.26% decrease. The East China region showed a trend of first falling and then rising.

The Chinese acetone market slightly declined, with Sinopec's listed price for the week reduced by 100 CNY/ton to 4,700 CNY/ton. By the end of the week, the total volume of acetone cargo in East China was 41,000 tons, with less than 10,000 tons in transit. The raw material prices slightly fell during the week, weakening the cost support, but phenol and acetone manufacturers are still in a loss-making state, with the operating rate at around 75%. Downstream factories mainly operate based on rigid demand, with average production levels, low inventory intentions, and mainly small-scale purchases.
