In 2025, China's BPA production capacity continued to expand. The 180,000-ton-per-year facility at Shandong Fuyu and the 240,000-ton-per-year unit at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical were commissioned in June and July, respectively, further boosting China's output. From January to August 2025, China's cumulative BPA production reached 3.1541 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 12.01%.
From January to August 2025, production reached 3.1541 million tons, representing a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. In June, Shandong Fuyu added a new 180,000-ton-per-year Bisphenol A unit, and by the end of July, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical introduced an additional 240,000-ton-per-year Bisphenol A facility. As output continues to rise, prices have come under downward pressure—especially in the second half of the year, when newly commissioned capacity has boosted supply. This surge in supply has outpaced demand for now, leading to temporary challenges in absorbing the increased output and forcing companies to lower prices to clear inventory and alleviate supply-side pressures.
In the third quarter, Bisphenol A (BPA) experienced significant profit losses, prompting companies to gradually reduce costs and ease operational pressures. Additionally, planned maintenance activities have been moved forward, with most plant upkeep now concentrated between September and November. Looking ahead, Shandong Ruilin is expected to commission its 240,000-ton-per-year BPA unit in the fourth quarter. However, due to challenges in fully ramping up production from the new facility, supply growth will remain limited. As a result, monthly output for the fourth quarter is forecasted to range between 395,000 and 420,000 tons.
