This Week's Activated Carbon Prices Decline (6.1-6.5) in China
June 5 news
According to the commodity market analysis system: At the beginning of the week, the price of activated carbon in China was 12,666 CNY/ton, and by the end of the week, it had decreased to 12,566 CNY/ton, a drop of 0.79%.
Chinese coconut shell activated carbon prices from manufacturers remained stable this week. The factory price for coconut shell activated carbon used for water purification in East China is between 9,500 and 13,000 CNY per ton. For columnar coal-based activated carbon with an iodine value of around 1,000, the price is between 8,200 and 9,500 CNY per ton. Currently, the industry's raw material inventory is high, and factories are less active in receiving goods, with traders focusing mainly on inventory clearance.
In terms of coal-based carbon, the ongoing environmental inspections coupled with the continued intensification of coal mine safety rectifications have driven up upstream coal prices, thereby boosting production costs. Meanwhile, downstream demand for inquiries and inventory preparations has picked up, leading to relatively active market transactions. However, the overall industry situation—where supply exceeds demand—has yet to undergo any fundamental change; hence, short-term market trends are expected to remain stable with some underlying support.
Forecast: Transactions of Chinese coconut-shell activated carbon fell short of expectations, and it is expected that activated carbon prices will likely remain volatile and trend slightly lower in the short term.
