Swiss construction chemicals group Sika announced on October 26 that it had acquired Duproof, a Dubai-based manufacturer of waterproofing membranes, adding a local production facility and an established customer network to its operations in the United Arab Emirates. The acquisition expands Sika's range of locally manufactured waterproofing materials for construction projects in the UAE. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Duproof produces bituminous waterproofing membranes used in major infrastructure, commercial and residential projects. The company has established relationships with local contractors and specialist waterproofing applicators. Sika plans to integrate Duproof's products into its project specifications and distribute them through the existing Sika UAE sales network.
The acquired production site will complement Sika's manufacturing operations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, adding capacity for the regional supply of waterproofing materials. Christoph Ganz, Sika's Regional Manager EMEA, said the acquisition would expand the group's customer base and improve its supply capabilities in the Middle East.
Sika did not disclose Duproof's annual revenue, workforce size or production capacity. The October 26 announcement confirmed that the acquisition had been completed, with product and distribution integration now forming part of Sika's regional operations.
