Amendment No. 1 to the General Regulations of Sports Nutrition Food is here. Can GB 24154-2020X be far behind?
Recently, the National Health Commission issued the “National Food Safety Standard Limits of Pathogenic Bacteria in Prepackaged Foods” (GB 29921-2021), etc. 17 national food safety standards and 1 amendment.
About GB 24154-2015 "National Food Safety Standard General Rules for Sports Nutrition Food" No. 1 Amendment Sheet
There is only one amendment to the No. 1 amendment of the GB 24154-2015 "National Food Safety Standard General Rules for Sports Nutrition Food", which is to limit the amount of "sodium" that can be added, that is, it stipulates that there is no special addition. There is no lower limit requirement for sodium nutrient sports nutrition food.
In early August 2021, the revision of GB24154 (hereinafter referred to as the "Draft for Comments") led by the Chinese Society for Food Science and Technology has initially completed the standard revision, and the new version of GB24154-202X is already on the way. The "Draft for Solicitation of Comments" first revised the product classification, canceled the original "categorized by characteristic nutrients" and "categorized by sports events", and adjusted them to be based on the different needs of human exercise for nutritional metabolism, function and physical fitness. According to the classification principle, sports nutrition foods are divided into six categories; at the same time, adjustments and supplements have been made to the technical requirements of sports nutrition foods, the ingredients that must be added to the products, the recommended ingredients, the limits, and the labels.
It can be seen from the revision of the classification of sports nutrition foods that sports nutrition foods clarify that the categories of post-exercise recovery products include physical recovery and bone and joint products. This is also why these two types of products, especially bone and joint products, are in the sports nutrition food market. The development has laid the groundwork for regulations and expanded the cognition population of bone and joint products from the previous middle-aged and elderly population to all sports people. Correspondingly, optional additives for bone and joint recovery have been added, such as calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K2. In particular, the vitamin K2 ingredient will also become an additive ingredient in the general rules of sports nutrition food for the first time, providing an opportunity for its in-depth development in the field of sports nutrition food.
