Zhongyuan Petrochemical Completed The First Processing Test of High-butadiene-C4 Raw Materials

ECHEMI 2022-04-02

Recently, the butadiene market has fluctuated greatly, resulting in a surplus of high butadiene C4 in the market, and at the same time, the prices of 1-butene and 2-butene have risen sharply. In order to keep abreast of the market and improve the profit growth point, Zhongyuan Petrochemical's C4 plant has carried out the processing test of high-butadiene C4 raw material, which is the first time in Sinopec.

Zhongyuan Petrochemical's carbon 4 comprehensive utilization unit was originally designed to use the by-product mixed carbon 4 of the upstream ethylene unit as raw material to increase the production of 1-butene. The design value of 1,3-butadiene content in its raw materials is 50%. The content of 1,3-butadiene in the C4 raw materials purchased in this market is generally high, up to 72%. For this reason, the company organized technical research, The suitability of the C4 plant for high butadiene-containing feedstocks was tested. After the unremitting efforts of the second olefin section, the yield of 1-butene in the final hydrogenation unit reached more than 45%, and the selectivity reached 52%. The unit runs smoothly and achieves the expected effect.

After this test, it not only created good economic benefits, but also explored a new way to process and purchase high-butadiene-containing C4 raw materials. Another new operation mode after the four-raw material mode increases the technical reserve of the operation of the device and improves the flexibility of the company's production and operation.
