Tea caterpillar dermatitis
Tea caterpillars, also known as tea poison moths, are the larvae of poison moths, commonly known as itchy chili, hairy chili, and thorny chili. They belong to the family of Lepidoptera. They are widely distributed in tea-producing areas such as Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Fujian, Taiwan, and Guangxi. After the poisonous hairs on the surface of the tea caterpillar larvae penetrate the skin, toxic substances overflow, and mechanical and chemical effects cause local itching. The more you scratch, the more the poisonous hairs drill into the skin, causing tea caterpillar dermatitis. For treatment, use more transparent tape to stick to the affected area to remove the poisonous hairs, and then apply various anti-inflammatory and antipruritic agents externally.
