Alopecia areata
Alopecia areata is a sudden, localized, patchy hair loss disease. The scalp at the site of the lesion is normal, with no inflammation or subjective symptoms. The disease progresses slowly and can remit and relapse on its own. If the entire scalp hair falls off, it is called alopecia totalis; if all the hair on the body falls off, it is called alopecia universalis.
