Orbital ossifying fibroma
Ossifying fibroma is an acquired fibrous osteoma that often involves the orbital bone. It is prone to occur in the craniofacial bones. It occurs in the skull, mostly in the frontal bone, ethmoid bone and sphenoid bone, and also in the temporal bone. It occurs in the facial bones, most commonly in the maxilla, and the orbit is also often involved. The pathological histological feature is thin bone spurs surrounded by bone and osteoblasts in a fibrous tissue matrix, and osteoblasts can be seen. Because it occurs in young people, it is also called juvenile ossifying fibroma.
