Dumping syndrome
Dumping syndrome refers to the sudden dumping of gastric food into the duodenum or jejunum due to the loss of pylorus or its normal function after gastrectomy and gastrojejunostomy, which can cause a series of symptoms. It can occur after any type of gastric surgery, but is more common after Billroth II subtotal gastrectomy. Dumping symptoms can also occur due to vagus nerve damage caused by esophageal surgery.
