Alveolar hypoventilation syndrome
Alveolar hypoventilation syndrome refers to the inability of alveolar ventilation to meet the needs of tissue metabolism, resulting in a decrease in alveolar oxygen partial pressure and arterial oxygen partial pressure, while an increase in arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure. However, in clinically significant hypoventilation syndrome, PaCO2 is generally higher than 6.67 kPa (50 mmHg).
