Nontuberculous mycobacterial infection
Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) disease refers to pulmonary and extrapulmonary diseases caused by mycobacterial infection other than human tuberculosis, bovine tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae. With the prevalence of HIV infection and AIDS, nontuberculous mycobacterial disease has also increased. Its histopathological manifestations are similar to tuberculosis, namely exudative lesions, proliferative lesions and sclerotic lesions.
