Hypothyroidism (abbreviated as hypothyroidism) is a group of endocrine diseases caused by insufficient synthesis, secretion or biological effect of thyroid hormone (TH) due to various reasons. When only the serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level is slightly elevated, while the serum thyroid hormone (FT4, FT3) level is normal, and the patient has no symptoms of hypothyroidism or only mild symptoms of hypothyroidism, it is called subclinical hypothyroidism (abbreviated as subclinical hypothyroidism), also known as mild hypothyroidism, latent hypothyroidism, biochemical hypothyroidism and reduced thyroid reserve.
