Description
Calcitonin is a single-chain polypeptide composed of 32 amino acid residues having a molecular weight of approximately 3600. A cysteine disulfide bridge at the 1-7 position of the amino terminal end of the peptide is essential for biological activity; however, the entire amino acid sequence is required for optimal activity.
Calcitonin Use and Manufacturing
Used for osteoporosis with bone pain, hypercalcemia and its crisis, neoplastic osteolysis caused by breast, lung, kidney and other malignant tumors, deformed osteoarthritis, neurodystrophy diseases, acute Pancreatitis, etc. Adverse reactions and contraindications: nausea, occasional vomiting, mild facial flushing accompanied by heat sensation. Rare allergic reactions.
Drug Function and Efficacy
This product is a thyroid hormone drug. The main ingredients of this product are thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). It has the effect of promoting catabolism (heat-raising effect) and anabolism, and has an important impact on the normal metabolism and growth and development of the human body. It is very important for the development of the central nervous system of infants and young children. The basic function of thyroid hormone is to induce the synthesis of new proteins including special enzyme systems, regulate the metabolism of three major substances: protein, carbohydrates and fat, as well as water, salt and vitamins. Because thyroid hormone induces the synthesis of cell membrane Na-K pumps and enhances their activity, energy metabolism is enhanced. Thyroid hormone (mainly T3) binds to specific receptors in the nucleus, the latter undergoes conformational changes to form dimers, and the activated receptors bind to specific sequences on DNA, thereby starting or inhibiting gene transcription, and ultimately leading to an increase or decrease in the synthesis of certain special proteins.
