Geographic tongue
Plicated tongue is also called scrotal tongue, fissured tongue, and furrowed tongue. It is often combined with geographic tongue, and is prone to infectious angular cheilitis, and appears in Down syndrome and Melkersoon Rosenthal syndrome. We have observed that this disease can also occur in acrodermatitis, pityriasis rubra pilaris, and palmoplantar pustulosis. This disease is similar to the fissured tongue in traditional Chinese medicine, commonly known as the cracked tongue surface, which is mostly caused by double yin deficiency and spleen deficiency.
